Product Description Its bold design and pleasing tones celebrates the Arts & Crafts movement. This wind chime is tuned using the Golden Ratio, a ratio discovered by the Greeks and found throughout nature. The Arts & Crafts movement of the early 20th century placed emphasis on simplicity, quality, function and harmony with nature. These themes were incorporated into the design of everyday objects - homes, furniture and decorative arts. This delightful-sounding wind chime brings enjoyment to the simple things of everyday life. This chime carries a lifetime tuning guarantee. In 1979, Grammy Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympus, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympus was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our best selling, musically-tuned wind chimes. Garry and his wife Diane still develop the chimes today as part of their family-owned business in New York’s Hudson Valley. Woodstock Chimes - The World's Favorite Wind chime. Amazon.com These chimes celebrate the Arts and Crafts movement that flourished around the turn of the 20th century in the United States and England. This movement placed a heavy emphasis on simplicity, quality, function, and harmony with nature in the designs of everyday objects such as homes, furniture, and pottery. Integrating this historical design with modern musical techniques, Woodstock Percussion has produced chimes rich in character and resonant music. Company founder Garry Kvistad has developed an advanced method of tuning used on every chime: each tube is analyzed digitally with a microphone under the tube measuring the frequency, and cutters are instructed to remove just the right amount of material to produce the most precise tuning possible. The result is a purer, more harmonious sound. Woodstock prides itself on being a socially responsible company, explaining that "through the sale of our chimes we proudly support the arts, as well as many environmental and humanitarian causes." Add the simple design of the Arts and Crafts movement to your yard or garden while contributing to the harmony of the earth. --Ariel Meadow Stallings
